I'm really enjoying this. It feels like a parallel experience to watching  Isekai anime

Bro, the music is just dogwater. Please add an option to turn it off or just remove it temporarily

Loud as heck music with no visible audio controls right at the start made me nope out on the spot.

Present volume options upfront when what you have playing starts drowning out anything else playing on the computer.

So I am back after missing some of the updates and I have some things to say. I now unlocked the life essence/mind control/slime, and I can see very nice improvements to the UI and the story, but some things bugged me out.
First, it doesn't show how much an upgrade costs until you have enough for it, which some games do, but they usually have a percentage of how much money they have, so like 50% if they have 25/50, 50/100, 40/80 and etc.
Second, there is no clear indication of what an upgrade does other than the story text. So I know that ''mind power'' increases the amount of control I get, but by how much, be it a fixed value of +1, or a percentage about 20%, is not written. You could potentially add a little text box that explains the upgrade when you hover over it with the mouse, either the name of the upgrade, or the upgrade button, both are good options.

Other minor stuff is not knowing how many upgrades you already have, the ''currency'' having 3 decimal spaces and the start having flashing images of the cave area, which could changed with slower fade in fade out, or just be blurred and slowly get brighter by each waking up text box.

Stuff I liked from the previous one is that it now stops the control acquiring when you get the text boxes, before it could bug out the game getting 50 control when you weren't done with the 25 control story bit.

I am reviewing this from a gamer perspective, I am no programmer so I don't know how hard it is to implement such stuff, but by the screenshots, I see you have expanded the story quite a bit and I will play until the end, keep up the passion without burning out the candle.

Hey, thank you for the feedback! It always helps to hear people's perspectives to update the game!

The buttons showing percentage to buying is something I'll consider for a QoL update in the future for sure! However there are labels in the game currently that show the modifiers and costs for upgrades, it may not be as obvious as I thought. If you hover your mouse over the name of the upgrade and leave it there for a moment, it will bring up a tool tip with the modifier and cost for the next upgrade!

This is true for almost all the text in the UI. I have added small descriptions to help the player.

As for not knowing how many of an upgrade you have. I don't believe I have a clear indicator of this in the game right now so that is something I can look into adding too!

The opening of the game flashing with the 'heartbeat' was my first attempt into some kind of animation in a game, I need more practice in that area for sure xD I'll look into it more in the future!

I'm glad you noticed the control bar stopping there when you enter dialogue (At least in the beginning where it matters). That was a common issue I even ran into myself when testing but having to step away for a moment. Due to already being in a dialogue and the next one triggering, it would ignore the new dialogue and not apply the new unlocks. The best solution was to pause the control timer which controls most of the game's timing and pacing!

Thank you again for your feedback. I'm slowly working on new updates between work and life, so it's somewhat slow. But I'm doing what I can in my free time, so updates will may be a little slow but I assure you it's still being worked on!

(1 edit)

I don't know if this is a bug or should be, but when I left the game and returned back to my save, in the white orb I saw the character you will control later on. Also, the number of life essence I get (the hard number for rebirth) is not proportional to the number of slimes, when I had 8, I got 2 life essence, and when I had 2, still 2 life essence. The speed at how much control (over the creatures) I get gets faster with more creatures, but that's about it.
They also disappear, which I don't know if it is a feature or bug.
Other than that, I have read the descriptions for the upgrades and they are okay, for the slime, I don't really understand it.

It probably means how much control (that's the creature bar called) I get for each slime, and the bottom one meaning how much life essence I should get. But as I stated before, I only get 2 even with 8 slimes.

A very fun game nonetheless, and don't take my comments as me saying the game is bad, just some stuff I noticed and didn't know if it is supposed to be or not.
Good luck on future updates.
PS: I was on browser

on the current web version the 2nd area you can walk through the border and go out of bounds ;P

Oh dear! Luckily there's nothing out of bounds in that version xD

I'll be sure to find the issue and fix it! Thanks for letting me know!

it would be nice, for those curious like me, when we will unlock new stuff... some kind of achievement or quest page that shows "when you have X of something you unlock that other thing"

it's good! keep going, you are doing well :)

Glad you've been enjoying it so far.

I'm currently in the middle of a huge update so that's not something I think I'll have the time to add right now, though it is something I would like to add in the future. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be sure to look into it once I'm done with the update :)

I think I broke the game, I don't see the same tabs that are on the other peoples screenshots + I've made trillions of points with no real progression

Oh goodness. You got pretty far there!

Once you unlock Heroes, that's as far as I have gotten in coding the game. So you're not missing out on any content.

I am releasing a new build soon that changes the layout and progression somewhat, however it will also end after unlocking the Heroes again. Once that update is here on Itch, I'll be focusing on new content from there.

I really hope you've been enjoying the game so far and I hope you'll also enjoy the new build, along with future updates! :)

Hit negative 9 quintillion lol

Number formatting should be fixed now. You should theoretically be able to go infinitely. However I've not fully tested it.
The drawback is that in the new build progress had to be reset to allow the new systems to work correctly.

I've rebirthed a ton of times and every time I rebirth it says I've done 0 damage to the Demon Lord, my last rebirth was 1.9ac life force

Yep, that's fine for now. It's a system for the end game but I need to find the right balance for it. It's meant to be a really powerful enemy for you to defeat as the game progresses so for now, you can imagine he's so powerful that you're barely able to hurt them :)

Glad you've gotten so far though. I've not even tested it to that extent. The numbers theoretically shouldn't break, but I have a feeling you'd be the first to find out! :P

if i buy 10 monsters i only end up with 1 monsters worth of life essence

Yes that is correct for now. Each creature speeds up the bar. Rebirth multiplier will increase the amount of Life Essence you receive.

After rebirthing life essence can't be acquired. plus make a save loading everytime i accidentally hit refresh for waiting patiently the game reset. over all love the concept. keep up the good work.

Hey, I'm glad you've been enjoying the game.

There were two version changes yesterday due to bugfixes and updates. Is it possible that you refreshed during those changes? (Some changes require me to change the save version which forces a reset)

As for not being able to acquire life essence after rebirth, that is a bug that should have been fixed on the last update. You shouldn't run into that issue going forward.

If you continue to have these issues, or have any others, please don't hesitate to let me know. A lot of the bugs I find are from players who report them and it helps a ton to get them fixed quicker!

As a very big fan of isekai, i can't wait for this game to grow. Isekai concepts always fascinated me, and i can see this progressing either to a kind of city builder, or something like leveling only yourself. You just gained a follow.

Love the story so far

Hey! Glad you're enjoying the game so far!

I actually took the step to rebuild the game from the ground up considering there was so much in the code that was hastily cobbled together. But it's given me a much needed chance to revisit how the mechanics work and make things so much cleaner/smoother. So there is an update coming, it's going to take a little while longer. That being said I'm hoping to get it out within the coming week! :) I'm certainly on track for it!

Once the new version is out however I'd certainly be open to fresh feedback comparing it to this current version.

Neat concept so far. I'm a little sad the game is so short even. I'm not really seeing the point between choosing between wolf/slime, though I imagine that will change as the game develops? The only real thing I could think of is possible performance issues having a ton of slimes vs having half the wolves in the image moving around depending on whether or not you cap how many show up.

My only critique I would add is please change how the story pops up, or add a button you have to click to continue to the next section of dialogue. Especially seeing how clicking plays a big role at the moment. I'll be clicking and suddenly boom story pops up and I've already clicked past 1 or 2 sections of dialogue. Now I just have to skip the rest and read the log on the bottom right (easier than replaying it..)

Game not loading. Firefox.

still waiting on run dependencies: index.js:14050:18

dependency: wasm-instantiate index.js:14050:18

Looks like you're posting about the same issue with a lot of other games. Have you tried a different browser? It seems the common issue is Firefox. You could check if any plugins you're using is causing issues too, such as an adblocker etc.

is there anything to actually spend life essence on

(+1)

Life Essence is spent passively at the moment (Unlocks Perception, Focus Mind and Mind Capacity) Once you've unlocked all of those, that is currently the end of progression until the next big update. Once I release it there should be a lot more to do with Life Essence.
